Right now I'm in a meeting with new teachers in our division.  We are in a discussion on shifted learning.

My take:

The age old debate in developing creative and critical thinking.  Students need to be independent learners - reflective thinkers and life long learners.  Students need to be accountable for their learning.  As a personal manager of my learning  - what do I need to do to get to where I want to go - meta cognition.

Using technology can enhance this process by engaging the student with the content.  Project based learning is a difficult task to manage as an educator; however using technology on the management end helps the process.  Using technology on the learning end helps engage the learning;however sturcutre/scaffolding the lessons/activity/project is essential to keep students engaged.  Technology will not provide the engagement - it's the teachers instructional design of the lesson that will engage the student.
